Afrigator Acquired

Today is a pretty exciting day for me and the Afrigator team as we can finally announce something that we have been working passionately towards for the past 2 years now – that being an investment partner who can help take Afrigator to the next level with a reach of a much bigger African audience.

MIH Print Africa, a division of Naspers, have secured a majority stake in Afrigator. The exciting news is that Justin and Stii will be relocating to a much trendier Cape Town (or as some prefer to call it Silicon Cape) working from the swanky new Afrigator headquarters with our first official employee, Product Manager Lester Hein, whilst Mike and myself will still be working very closely with the Afrigator team. Expect to see lots happening over the coming months. (more…)

At 19h30pm (South African Time) tonight I will be chatting to Naye Lupondwana on SAFM (South African FM) about what exactly it is that I do and what projects I am involved in. The interview will be part of the “After Dark” programme that showcases personalities you most probably haven’t heard of :)

International readers, if you have any interest in hearing the interview it should be available streaming off the SAFM website.

If you are visiting my site after listening to the interview please let me know via a comment below. Us bloggers love comments :)

See I’m a huge fan of animated movies, I love all the Pixar productions – Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Ratatouille, as well as other animated films like Ice Age and Shrek. What I find amazing is how animation is evolving and with every new film release the possibilies of animation become more and more limitless.

After Pixar achieved believable water physics in Finding Nemo, which must have been an incredibly difficult task, they then set themselves the monumental task of animating body language and emotion effectively and realistically. The end result of what must have been years of programming and 3D modelling was a loveable robot named Wall-E that doesn’t speak a word of any human voice, but communicates through robotic sounds and body language. It’s great to see a worthy cause getting some media attention. It’s even better when that worthy cause is one of my favourite websites, SA Rocks, and it is seen on television sporting one of my website designs.

Congrats to Nic Haralambous, I hope this television feature brings you many new visitors and rocking new opportunities.
