Who’s the fool now?

Sucks Fool

Today we witnessed probably THE most historic one day international cricket match ever to have taken place, between South Africa and Australia! What a game. “Incredible” as Graeme Smith put it. I can’t put it much better.

Not wanting the moment to end, I surfed the internet (after a few celebratory brewskis of course!) looking for a few sport’s reports on today’s great game. I found quite a few, News24, Sky News, ABC Sports and SportsAustralia.com, were all praising South Africa’s performance. I then stumbled upon a related article on Fox Sports, Australia, that grabbed my attention. “Warne labels Smith a fool”. I thought this might be an interesting read, and oh was it.

Apparently a few hours before the game Warne had a little go at Smith:

SHANE Warne has lit the fuse for an explosive Test series by branding South Africa’s Graeme Smith a tactically inept “fool” who is directly responsible for the decline of some of his own players.

The flamboyant leg spinner risked possible action under the International Cricket Council’s code of conduct by taking verbal warfare with the Proteas skipper to new heights.

Unfortunately for Warne, this all came before Smith’s men pulled off a remarkable world-record victory in the final limited-overs game to clinch the series against Australia 3-2.

Haha sucks fool! Ok wait the funny bit is still to come:

“Smith didn’t make runs (in Australia) and there’s no South African team that has performed that badly ever.

“He was the captain, so he’s got to take responsibility for that.”

“But he just keeps making these outrageous, ridiculous statements that he doesn’t back up. He’ll probably end up with egg on his face again.

“If he has learnt any lessons out of Australia, and hopefully he hasn’t, he might be better off just being quiet and trying to play.”

I bet someone wished he had kept quiet now!! Woohaha!! What a great tingling feeling I have inside right about now.

Leafman must die!

I’m not usually an aggressive guy, but when I get woken up every Saturday morning to the sound of some retard sucking up leaves with his Christmas present from Aunt Sue, my blood starts to boil.

Like most people I enjoy a sleep in on Saturday morning… followed by the latest US episode of the hit series “Lost” in bed (that part is probably not so average). This week I couldn’t enjoy either.

Leafman piped up a bit later than usual this morning, but louder than ever (His leaf-sucking machine could be entered in the Guiness Book of records for the loudest, most irritating, 150 decibel sound), and must have sucked up not only every leaf, but every ant residing in his courtyard (about a 10 square metre radius). He hoovers with his leaf-sucking machine for about 1 hour, usually between 7.30 and 8.30am every Saturday morning, until he can see his reflection on the brick-paved floor.

Leaf Man

I’ve tried screaming and cursing as loud as possible (out of my 2nd floor flat window), the leaf sucking machine is too loud though, and he can’t hear me, so I’ve decided to blog about it, in the hopes that he has an internet connection, kows what a blog is, finds my blog (out of the 22 million out there), and sees how peed off I am.

What was in the Oscar celeb’s swag bags this year?

Most people know the Oscar nominees get showered with gifts, in fact if you attend the Oscars you get showered with gifts. It seems the richer and more famous you are, the more gifts you get. Doesn’t seem very fair to me, I suppose I’m just jealous though.

So what did the celebs get in their swag bags this year? The Grammy gift basket was worth about $US65,000 including a guitar and a coupon for Lasik eye surgery. That’s for every Tom, Dick or Harry who managed to get invited!

The nominees got a bunch more!!

  • Each of the Best Actress nominees got a special addition Kodak V570 iced with 70 Kwiat diamonds. The diamonds positioned in the Best Actress nominees’ initials (I’m guessing this one’s Reese Witherspoon). So even if they didn’t win the award they still walked away with a fancy diamond encrusted camera worth $20,000, oh I forgot plus the value of the camera ($400), $20,400. That’s more than some of us South Africans make in a year.

  • They also got a Victoria’s Secret gift – a $US15,000 bra and panty set embellished with a (removable) Chantal Thomas’s gold and diamond brooch.
  • Best Director, Best Actor/Actress and Best Supporting Actor/Actress nominees all walked away with a special-edition gunmetal-gray PEBL Motorola cellphone, along with an H700 Bluetooth headset and three months of service from T-Mobile.

At the Golden Globes awards a $US22,000 cruise to Antarctica was included in the gift basket.

Kind of makes you sick hey?

Tsotsi wins in the Olympics of Filmmaking

Tsotsi wins OscarWell I’ll be a monkey’s uncle, I think I have chosen the wrong career path! I have only ever posted two articles on good movies I have watched, those two movies being Crash and Tsotsi. Which two movies won Oscars last night? Crash: Best Picture, and, more importantly, Tsotsi: Best Foreign Language Film.

“Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrica, God bless Africa!” Hood said, upon receiving his award.

I’m feeling very proud to be a South African today, and I am very confident that this award is the start of something big. We can expect a lot more great local productions in the near future, and a much bigger international audience will be watching.
