Business Card Inspiration

I’m finally getting around to designing a new business card with my UK contact details on it. Up until now I have been handing out business cards with my South African contact information, not very professional, but it does open up a bit of chit chat. Honestly I just haven’t found the time to invest into my own company’s brand image, I am too busy designing for clients. Not a very good excuse, but I am sure most designers will understand my predicament.

I’ve played with a few designs in Adobe Illustrator, but i’m lacking in the creativity department. After a Google search I stumbled on some great links to get the creative juices flowing again.

I even found this brilliant clip from the movie American Psycho. It’s a must watch.

“Something wrong Patrick? You’re sweating.”

Haha I love it.

Anyways, here is a link to some business card designs that are a little more interesting. And here is a link to a Flickr photoset of hundreds of business card designs.

Free Cricket World Cup TV

On Saturday I was desperate to watch the SA vs Australia World Cup game, but wasn’t quite ready to head on over to the local smokey pub to watch the game on SKY. That was when I discovered Sopcast. Sopcast is free P2P internet TV software that offers quite a selection of internet TV channels, including a live world cup cricket channel.

After downloading the Sopcast media player, which seems a relatively stable product, I found a website that tells you what channel to tune into to watch the latest game live. That website being http://livecricketstreams.blogspot.com. Bingo.

Besides a few lags in transmission and some terrible Indian Home Insurance adverts I managed to watch a good few hours of the game from the comfort of my new office chair. It swivles, it has a high back, and it looks like it is made of real leather… but it’s not. Perfect.

Then followed a Clapham pub with a few Saffa mates and far too many Aussies.

Final thought: It baffles me why coach Arthur put Kallis and Prince ahead of our pinch hitters Gibbs, Kemp and Boucher. Why!? Was it a tactical loss? Read more on Mike Stopforth’s site.

Update

For the thousands of visitors who have found my site due to this post, and are looking for a channel on Sopcast to watch SA vs Australia, I’ve found one, channel 21270, or visit this page for all the channels.

Help deliver the message

I’ve never posted anything slightly political on my blog, but I am making an exception with this post.

It is so so sad what is happening in Zimbabwe at the moment. However, there is hope. There are amazingly strong individuals united in fighting for Zimbabwe’s freedom. They can’t liberate Zimbabwe without your help though, help in exposing the criminal activities of Robert Mugabe and his gang of baboons.

I encourage every single one of you bloggers, where ever you might come from, to post this video on your website/blog. Leave a trackback on Sokwanele’s “This is Zimbabwe” blog. Help them to deliver their message.

I’ve been sifting through the large amount of South African blogs trying to find possible nominees for this year’s blog awards. There are so many great blogs out there it’s hard to decide who my votes will go to.

When choosing nominees for the Best Photographic Blog I urge you to take a look at a few photographers that I am considering to nominate. No, I am not being paid to promote these guys, I am just amazed at their talented portfolios.

In no particular order I present to you: (more…)
