In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon’s every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon’s boundless wit, and timeless message.

It’s great to see a worthy cause getting some media attention. It’s even better when that worthy cause is one of my favourite websites, SA Rocks, and it is seen on television sporting one of my website designs.

Congrats to Nic Haralambous, I hope this television feature brings you many new visitors and rocking new opportunities.

Inside Threadless.com

I’m a big fan of Threadless.com – an online community based tee shirt company. Over the past couple years a lot of similar sites have popped up and jumped on the band wagon, like Oddica (which I have blogged about before), and the latest one being South African based Springleap.

I’ve always thought there is huge potential in community based e-commerce sites, but I underestimated the sheer size of companies like Threadless.com. I’ve always found it fascinating seeing how an online company operates offline.

This video clip below takes you behind the scenes of Threadless.com and you get to see the AWESOME work place and the incredibly creative staff working there.

I find it hugely inspiring.

Don’t you just love how Threadless oozes creativity, energy and most importantly fun.

I’ve visited a lot of photoshop tutorial sites before, but this one teaches you things you actually want to know – current design trends.

A rookie guide to digital SLR cameras

There comes a time in every point-and-shooter’s life when he or she wonders if there is more to photography than a palm-sized block of aluminum stowed away in one’s pocket.” If that is you then take a read over Mike Davidson’s great post. Mike informs you of exactly what you should be thinking about when in the process of purchasing a SLR camera.
