I’m a big fan on the jazz musos from Cape Town, South Africa, that are taking the world by storm with their exciting live, African flavoured, electronica acts – Goldfish.

Courtesy of a link from SA Rocks this afternoon I discovered their latest music video for “Soundtracks and Comebacks”, animated by Mike Scott of Bru and Boegie.

I used to visit Bru and Boegie almost daily and then, all of a sudden, somehow managed to completely forget about the site. After seeing what Mike has been up to animating music videos, winning t-shirt design contests and even developing a new kids show, I am hugely impressed. Great to see him getting recognized and growing from strength to strength. I’ve most certainly bookmarked the site now.

You might have heard? MTV and HP have teamed up to bring 4 teams of digital artists from around the world to New York City to compete in a series of creative challenges. The winning team takes home $400,000USD in cash plus HP gear.

I love the concept of this show and will definitely be following it, especially seeing it will all be broadcasted online @ www.mtvengineroom.com.

Where is Team Africa though?

Yet again why has Africa been forgotten? There’s load of creative minds in deepest, darkest Africa!

Various shady characters, including Mr One-Two, Stella the accountant, and Johnny Quid, a druggie rock-star, try to claim their slice…

Afrigator Acquired

Today is a pretty exciting day for me and the Afrigator team as we can finally announce something that we have been working passionately towards for the past 2 years now – that being an investment partner who can help take Afrigator to the next level with a reach of a much bigger African audience.

MIH Print Africa, a division of Naspers, have secured a majority stake in Afrigator. The exciting news is that Justin and Stii will be relocating to a much trendier Cape Town (or as some prefer to call it Silicon Cape) working from the swanky new Afrigator headquarters with our first official employee, Product Manager Lester Hein, whilst Mike and myself will still be working very closely with the Afrigator team. Expect to see lots happening over the coming months. (more…)
